Carbon Farming
Learn about Soil Erosion and design your own automated Carbon Farming experiment
In this activity, students will learn about how different plant species have an impact on soil health, nutrient retention, water usage and most importantly carbon sequestration! Students will do some inquiry on the field of carbon farming and on how grass lawns have become one of the developed world’s most plentiful ‘crops.’ Groups of students will build an automated growing system for grass, clover and switchgrass to quantify the difference between plant species.
Please note: This course is designed to be used in conjunction with the InkSmith Climate Action Kit. The Kit contains all the robotic parts and the PCB breakout board needed to complete the project. You will need at least one micro:bit per kit to complete the project, however, the more micro:bits the better.
