In this activity, students will learn how the science of paleontology reveals dinosaur fossils and 3D print a Tyrannosaurus Rex skull!

Learning Goals
By the end of the course students will:
- Gain knowledge about how paleontologists uncover dinosaur fossils that tell a story
- Demonstrate knowledge about how fossils are formed and the process of excavation using written and oral skills
- Collaborate with classmates to 3D print a T-Rex skull
- Apply geometric principles to dimension and measure irregular shapes or difficult lines
Materials
- blank paper
- pens/pencils
- 3D Printer filament for printing (and scheduled time on the printer)
- 3D printer such as the Cubicon Single+
- slicing software such as Cubicreator or Simplify3D
- licensed CAD software such as Fusion 360, Inventor, TinkerCAD or SolidWorks
- computer and mouse for each student
Prerequisite Skills
- Familiarity with TinkerCAD or other 3D printing software
