Mission on the Moon: Educator Guide

Curriculum Connections, Teachers Guide and Classroom-ready Presentation Materials.

The Educator Resources Course contains all of the curriculum connections, Teacher's Guides and classroom-ready presentation materials for classroom delivery of Mission on the Moon activities and modules. This course is intended to be used by educators in grades 6 to 9 to assist them with introducing coding, robotics, and STEM competencies in the classroom with Mission on the Moon programming.

Course Contents:

  • Google Slides and Powerpoint slide decks for Mission on the Moon modules 1 to 3 (both virtual and physical coding options)
  • Teacher's Guide including tips & tricks for each module and activity
  • Introduction tutorial slide deck for Scratch, Microsoft Makecode, and TinkerCAD coding programs
  • Curriculum Connection Guide for modules 1 to 3 (Ontario Curriculum Standards)

The Faculty of Education at Wilfrid Laurier University and the Education Technology company, InkSmith, have partnered to develop the Mission on the Moon project.

Funded by the Government of Canada's investment in the Lunar Gateway project, Mission on the Moon is a free bundle of educational coding and robotics courses for students in grades 6 to 9. Supported by the Canadian Space Agency, the goal of this project is to create accessible and approachable resources to encourage the development of coding and STEM skills while fostering an interest in space among Canadian youth.
