Electric Vehicle Energy Systems
Learn about electric & autonomous vehicles and build your own robotic car.
This module is part of a course bundle for the Energy Climate Action Kit. This bundle of courses is designed to be used in conjunction with the physical Energy Climate Action Kit. Each kit comes with a coupon code to access this bundle of modules for free.
In this module, students will learn about electric vehicles as a sustainable transportation option, as well as the future of electric self-driving/autonomous vehicles. They'll start by learning about traditional combustion engine vehicles, their impact on the environment and then move on to discovering what electricity is, where it comes from, how we can store electricity in batteries. All of their learning will be centred around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number 7: Affordable and Clean Energy and Goal number 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. Students will demonstrate their understanding through a variety of hands-on experiments, and conclude the module by constructing and coding an electric robotic car capable of navigating around obstacles just like an autonomous vehicle.
